SPRING IS IN THE AIR

Storm Gareth

Storm Gareth hit North Wales on 16th March and caused devastation for some parts of the area. Our garden steps looked like a waterfall and the drive was a small pond. We were away for the weekend but thankfully our friends came to the rescue. They diverted the water and kept the drains clear and apart from a little water in the porch we stayed dry. The fields towards the village were like a sea and the water came up to the farm buildings. The River Conwy rose to just below the suspension bridge! The Council have reported it was at the highest level on record.

Our Garden

The wet weather has quickly given way to some lovely sunshine and the garden is coming into bloom. We’ve had snowdrops, daffodils and camellias making a lovely display. The rhododendrons are just showing their colour and looking beautiful. We will soon see the bluebells in the wood. We are so lucky to have such a large and varied garden. Our guests have already enjoyed sitting on the deck in the Spring sun at the end of an active day.

On Two Wheels

Last month we tried some electric bikes. Beics Betws put on some a taster session which was great so we hired e-mountain bikes for an afternoon. We completed a 30 mile route along quiet lanes and forest tracks. By getting off the beaten track we saw some fantastic and different views right on our doorstep.

Having had such fun, I have ordered an e-bike (Barbara) but Nigel (the purist) says he will continue to ride without assistance! Watch this space for more news on our cycling adventures.

Feedback

Finally, but not least, we have had some great feedback recently. We have been given the Visit Wales Gold Award for 2019 (for the B&B) and the Customers’ Choice Award 2019 by Cottages.com. For the last six months we have also been ranked number 1 by travellers on Trip Advisor. We are so grateful for such positive feedback and thank you to everyone who has supported us in 2018. We look forward to meeting old and new friends in 2019.
